I’ve been talking to this guy I met online for about two weeks. He’s 37 and has two kids (I’ve been trying to stick to dating dads, as they understand my schedule a little bit better).
At first, our online conversation was typical. He asked about my hobbies, blah, blah. He then asked if we could exchange phone numbers. He kept hinting at setting a time and date to meet up but never actually asked me out. I even went as far as saying “I will give you my number if you actually use it to ask me out.”
I have this policy that if a guy doesn’t ask you out after a certain amount of online chatting, he’s playing around, in a relationship, an attention whore, or all three. These type of men are time wasters. I move on.
So, with trepidation, I gave him my number on his promise of an actual date. Then the weird text messages came rolling in. 50 different “:-)” and “!!!!” It was the same message every morning and every afternoon, sometimes at 7:00 a.m or 10:00 p.m.
“Good morning Penny :-)! Hope you have a great day!”
“Good afternoon Penny :-)! How was your day?!”
He even sent me a picture of the breakfast he made his kids.
At first, I was nice. But the conversation was just a back and forth exchange of daily activities. Boring. No date plans whatsoever.
Is this guy totally clueless or an attention whore? I can’t tell.
