Dr. Justin Puckett, a medically trained doctor in obesity medicine, received a letter from his daughter’s school saying that a lunch he packed was too unhealthy. The lunch included a ham sandwich, pickle, Ritz crackers, chocolate bars, and marshmallows.
Under the signature for parents, Dr. Puckett wrote: Request declined.
Good for him! Who does this teacher think she is to dictate what a child’s parents pack for lunch, much less from an doctor specializing in obesity? To the school administration’s credit, they did apologize.
The school system does not need to parent our children. They are there to teach.
